Page is really basic. Their advertising makes a big deal about them having a lot of features(and value) for very little money. However, the truth is that if you actually want to use the Python or Perl scripting even for quite simple stuff you'll find they're not properly configured and are on very old(and unsupported) versions.
For example, even without shell access most other providers will provide a workaround so that you use Perl's extensive CPAN library such as copying the modules to another locations under your home directory. iPage don't do this(or don't do it well). CPAN is the real strength of that language but without the ability to use it, then the Perl scripting feature is severely crippled. iPage's Perl version is also old and unsupported. This makes a mockery of their claim that Perl is available as part of the plan. Their claim is outright misleading and maybe their should be asterisks next to it highlighting the limitations.
The support team isn't much help. They don't provide any assistance apart from using it as an excuse to try bumping customers up to a much more expensive plan

We've been using iPage for the past few years now and I have to say it's been a great experience so far. I mean there are better hosts I'm sure but for the price its actually quite incredible. There is no downtime (which happens a lot with other hosts) and performance has been really quick since they use SSD servers. Overall it's been an awesome experience and always recommend to friends looking for a solid hosting option.

They really do not have a ticket system. You cannot open your own ticket. You must go thru chat to have one opened. Then they immediately close it after their first response without so much as waiting or asking to make sure your issue is resolved. That then forces you to do the process of going to chat, waiting in the queue, answering the security question and then asking them to re-open the ticket to add your response. MAJOR waste of time and frustration. Even when you BEG them not to close it until your issue is resolved, they CLOSE IT AGAIN. So each and every multiple time you wish to respond, you must waste 30+ minutes going thru this process. MAJOR PAIN. They used to not do this. You used to be able to open your own ticket, but not anymore.
If your time is important to you, STAY CLEAR of iPage anymore. This from a LONG time customer…one who will be moving elsewhere.

Ipage are useless, when I just had hosting and barely use it, simple site, basic HTML, fine it worked, now that I am running a forum it is the worst hosting i've ever witnessed, their incompetent staff are useless, they don't actually fix anything, just write up a ticket, close it immediately and apologise profusely but don't actually mean it. The worst issue I have had was recently they "mistakenly" added a domain to my account, not mine someone else's, since their epic screw up I have received 3-4 calls a day from scamming "marketing" companies wishing to help me with my new domain, I now have to get a new phone number, this one I've had for 4 yeas, it is the backbone of my business, and now I have to get a new one because some "tech support master" couldn't realise they were adding a domain to the wrong account, no apologies, no real ones anyway, all I get is 2 months more of hosting with these incompetent idiots, stay away, avoid them at all costs, they will sell your info to anyone who wants it, they don't care about your business, they don't care about anything except keeping clients signed up to their ridiculous excuse of a hosting service.

I recently purchased VPS Hosting from iPage. I really liked their chat support, service and reasonable fees for VPS. But when I had to install Wildcard SSL for my ECommerce website, they simply said "NO! WE DO NOT ENABLE SSL ON SU BDOMAINS".
When I request them to enable it, I was responded with "OUR ARCHITECTURE DO NO SUPPORT". I Don't think anyone would downgrade his/her ECommerce website because iPage does not let them enable SSL on subdomains, not me atleast.

What a frustrating experience. I opened an account for email purposes and then decided to transfer my domains to iPage. UGH. One domain name would not transfer....at least 8 calls and 3-4 hours of support and it could NOT be done. In talking to GoDaddy many times and iPage many times, I believe the issue was with iPage systems. I finally left that domain with an unusual extension at GoDaddy. However, the email for that domain name is at iPage and used to work there BEFORE attempting to transfer the domain. Now, no email PERIOD.
I've placed several calls in and get "India", which is of little help. The issue was escalated to another team who will only email me incomplete information with no instructions. I've complained and asked for clarification and get the same answer over and over. I've requested and American agent and get only India. They tell me call in. I will only get India. Apparently I cannot talk to the escalation team and the team members I talk to tell me to change the MX records. The next person says yes, but I must also change the IP address of the MX records but it is unclear in their fields what goes where. I say this over and over to them and they tell me to ask probing questions. *@#*!!! They tell me to call in so I can do this all over again. WTF?
Now two of my websites are down. There is no way to resolve this without talking to the escalation team and I cannot talk to them.

What do you like best?
Maybe the only good feature of Ipage is its price. When you hire their service for their first time, they can go as low as $1.99 per month (even though you need to buy at least 1 year of their service). Ipage may be a good service for first time bloggers whose site doesn´t need to be up 24/7. Also, it´s control panel is easy to use, and like most hosting providers, allows you to install wordpress on your website with only a few clicks. However, if your website is really active, you´ll find many, many issues with them.
What do you dislike?
I don´t know where to start. First and foremost, even though they claim they have 99% server uptime, my site was down more than 15 times during a month (and those were only the times I counted, which weren´t planned maintenance). Another issue is that they suddenly increase their service price for current users. For example, I had to pay $3.99 per month after 12 months, which I thought was reasonable. However, when 24 months elapsed, they started charging $9.99 per month, and a few months later, they started charging $12.99 per month. Also, they perform "routine scans" on your websites and always tell you that you have a "security failure / spam registration" in order to sell you their Sitelock security service. To be quite honest, I don´t recommend iPage to serious web developers; actually, I´m cancelling my membership and these are my last days with their service.
Recommendations to others considering the product
I´m really dissatisfied with iPage´s service. To my mind, these are the things you´re doing wrong:
1. Terrible uptime percentage compared to what you claim to offer (you have millions of clients, and I´m sure you can easily fix this problem)
2. Stop trying to push Sitelock services to your clients. This will only make current clients angry and they will leave your service, as I´m about to leave as well.
3. Don´t start increasing prices dramatically to current users. I understand the increase from $1.99 to $3.99. But from $3.99 to $12.99 in a few months is a steal! You only excuse yourself by saying that it´s because you´ve improved your infrastructure and services, but I´ve seen the same flaws!
What business problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?
Like most hosting companies, iPage helps your website be up and running in a short amount of time. This will help you have a better online business presence (or online hobby presence!). Also, with an easy-to-use control panel, you can have your website ready to be launched in a few hours (or even less).
